Outings

South Oxon Branch Outing Saturday 5th May 2007

Branch outings always conjure up thoughts like what will the bells be like? How easy will it be to find the towers? And for the organiser of the day there is the anxiety of, will everything go according to plan? Will we be met by someone to open the towers?

Well I am very pleased to say that the Branch outing on Saturday 5th May was a very enjoyable day. The four towers of St Lawrence - Alton, Holy Cross - Binsted, St. John Baptist - New Alresford and St Mary - Upton Grey, provided some excellent ringing. The day also included a short train journey on the Mid Hants Railway Watercress Line between Alton and New Alresford. It is always an experience to relive the “old days” and that applied to most of the twenty or so happy travellers!! The day ended with a meal at the Chequers Inn, Berrick Salome and brought to a close a relaxed day of ringing and a wonderful social gathering. Brian Gray thanked Kay Bartholomew for all her hard work in making the day such an enjoyable occasion for ringers and non-ringers.

Thanks to the unseen cameraman Raymond Fergusson for capturing the event.[Ed]
